  • Archiving happens 6 months after event has passed
  • Install Simply Static (Patrick Posner)
  • Delete (or disable) and get rid of any Plugins that are WP ‘only’.  (Don’t forget about Forms).
    • If you know where the Forms are, take them off the Pages as well.
  • Go to Simply Static > Settings > General > Replacing URLs and set to “Offline Usage”
    • Check ‘Force URL Replacements’
    • Save settings
  • Run Simply Static (You can view in the Activity Log)
  • Check .zip file on your computer
  • Upload .zip to corresponding folder in cPanel > File Manager
    • If folder all ready exists, delete the ‘index.php’ file
    • Edit ‘index.html’ and add “” on line 2 (this is so you can check it when making sure the url worked)
  • Unzip and delete .zip file
  • Deletion
    • Multisite – Delete user for previous year
    • Multisite – Initially, deactivate or archive site to test
      • Mouse-over site and check the ID (in the URL) for cleaning up the database later.
    • “View Source” on index url and make sure you see that ‘ARCHIVED’ on line 2.
    • Stand alone – Delete site (please test before you do so)
  • Delete subdomain in cPanel > Domains (only if subdomain was used – phasing out)
    • This process should delete email addresses associated, but double check in cPanel > Email Accounts.
  • Double check conference Page on ieee-itss.org to make sure link is working for archived site.
    • Also double check
  • Delete tables in phpMyAdmin (!!!)
    • Backup database (you can check the name in Softalucous)
    • Delete tables related to the multisite you just deleted.
      • If you didn’t check the ID, you can look for the ID’s that don’t have an ‘options’ table.  This should mean that there isn’t a sight for it.

Hi XXXX,

I have created a user for you on https://wieils.ieee.org/xxxx.  You should have gotten an email from WordPress to set your password.  Please check your SPAM folder if you have not received it.  You can also reset your password, manually, by going to https://wieils.ieee.org/xxxx/wp-admin and clicking on “Forgot password”.  Your username is the first initial of your first name followed by your last name/surname.

We have also created a Conference “How To” guide to help you get started on the website.  Please be aware that this document is evolving and might change (or be updated) during your time as chair of the Conference.
