Overview

The IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Summit (WIE ILS) Tunisia 2026, taking place on 5–6 September 2026 in Gammarth, Tunisia, features two dedicated poster sessions designed to highlight both technical excellence and community impact within the IEEE WIE ecosystem.

Poster Session 1: Student Women in AI Research and Technology focuses on showcasing cutting-edge research, innovative projects, and technological contributions by undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students in Artificial Intelligence and related fields. This session emphasizes scientific advancement, creativity, and the role of women in shaping the future of AI.

Poster Session 2: IEEE WIE Student Affinity Groups is dedicated to highlighting the achievements, initiatives, and impact of IEEE WIE Student Affinity Groups across Tunisia. It offers a platform for groups to present their activities, share experiences, and inspire collaboration within the IEEE community.

Together, these sessions provide a comprehensive platform that combines research excellence with community engagement, fostering networking, visibility, and empowerment for women in engineering and technology.

To participate in the poster sessions, selected candidates must be registered for WIE ILS.

Student Women In AI Research and Technology

It aims to provide an inspiring platform for knowledge exchange, networking with academia and industry, and empowering young women to become future leaders in AI research and technology.

As Artificial Intelligence continues to transform every sector of society, increasing the participation and visibility of women in AI has become essential to ensuring that intelligent systems are innovative, ethical, inclusive, and human-centered. Through this poster session, IEEE WIE ILS Tunisia seeks to recognize outstanding student contributions while fostering collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth within the global AI community.

Notes: All submissions will undergo a preselection process conducted by the Technical Committee based on originality, scientific quality, relevance, and innovation. Selected candidates will be invited to present their posters during the summit. A panel of experts will evaluate the presentations, and the highest-ranked contribution will receive the Best Poster Presentation Award, recognizing excellence in AI research and technological innovation by women students. This poster session offers an exceptional opportunity for participants to showcase their work, receive valuable feedback from leading researchers and industry professionals, expand their professional network, and contribute to advancing diversity and inclusion in global AI ecosystem.

Ilhem Kallel is an Associate Professor at the University of Sfax, Tunisia, and a researcher in Computer Science and Engineering at Research Groups in Intelligent Machines (REGIM-Lab). Her work combines intelligent and bioinspired systems, optimization, and data science, intended to be integrated into educational environments that foster collaborative learning while taking emotional intelligence into consideration. She has authored publications in international journals and conferences, often addressing challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Beyond academia, Ilhem is an active SMIEEE volunteer and leader, engaged with the IEEE Education Society, IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, and IEEE Women in Engineering. She has been recognized for advancing IEEE’s mission in Tunisia, Africa, and Region 8 through humanitarian technology initiatives, diversity advocacy, and student empowerment, while also taking leadership roles in organizing IEEE conferences and workshops that foster collaboration across academia, industry, and the global engineering community.

Hela Lajmi is currently an Associate Professor at the Higher Institute of Computing and Multimedia (ISIMG), University of Gabes, Tunisia, and a Researcher at Research Groups in Intelligent Machines (REGIM-Lab), University of Sfax, Tunisia. She received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from the National Engineering School of Sfax (ENIS), University of Sfax, Tunisia. Her research interests include AI-driven software engineering, intelligent test automation, agentic AI, and trustworthy AI governance for automotive software systems.
Hela is a senior IEEE member with more than 14 years of volunteering. She is the Founder and Counselor of ISIMG SB. She is currently in the Operating Committee of R8 Membership Development, IEEE ITSS Tunisia Chapter and the WiE ISIMG SBC. She occupied the positions of IEEE Tunisia Section Membership Development Coordinator, IEEE ITSS Chair (2017) and IEEE IAS Vice Chair (2015).

Yosra Teieb is a 2026 Computer Science graduate from the Higher Institute of Computer Science and Multimedia (ISIMS), University of Sfax, Tunisia and an active IEEE volunteer interested in leadership, community engagement, AI and technology. She served as Chair of the IEEE WIE ISIMS Affinity Group in 2025 and currently acts as Membership Coordinator of the IEEE ISIMS Student Branch. She is also Organizing Co-Chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Summit Gammarth, Tunisia 2026 (IEEE WIE ILS Tunisia 2026).
Since joining the IEEE ISIMS Student Branch in 2024, Yosra has contributed to several initiatives aimed at supporting students and strengthening the IEEE community. During the 2025 mandate, she served as Chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) ISIMS Student Affinity Group, where she worked with her team to organize activities that encouraged participation and professional growth.
Currently, Yosra serves as Membership Coordinator (HR Manager) of the IEEE ISIMS Student Branch and Organizing Co-Chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Summit Gammarth, Tunisia 2026. Through these roles, she enjoys collaborating with volunteers, supporting member engagement, and contributing to the organization of impactful IEEE initiatives.

IEEE WIE Student Affinity Groups

The IEEE Women in Engineering Summit Tunisia 2026 is proud to host the IEEE WIE Student Affinity Groups in Tunisia Poster Exhibition.

The poster exhibition invites IEEE WIE Student Affinity Groups in Tunisia to showcase their activities, initiatives, projects, and impact by presenting a poster during the summit. It provides a platform to share experiences, highlight achievements and flagship initiatives, inspire other Student Affinity Groups across Tunisia, and connect with IEEE volunteers, students, and professionals.

Who can participate?

All IEEE WIE Student Affinity Groups in Tunisia are welcome to submit one poster representing their Affinity Group.

IEEE volunteer and early-career leader actively engaged in Women in Engineering and global IEEE initiatives. Currently serving as Chair of the IEEE WIE Tunisia Affinity Group and contributing to several international programs, including the IEEE Day Global Ambassadors Program and the IEEE WIE & Life Members Congress 2026.

She has been involved in organizing major IEEE events such as the International Leadership Summit (ILS) Tunisia and supports communication activities within the IEEE Volunteer Staff Board and IEEE Entrepreneurship initiatives. Her work focuses on community building, volunteer engagement, and digital communication.

She received the 2023 IEEE WIE Region 8 Volunteer Award in recognition of her contributions to Women in Engineering and student affinity group activities.
